Cards Against Humanity: Fourth Expansion

wait...
This is the greatest business model of all time. I just realized I've now spent 75 bucks combined on all the CAH and expansions...at retail price.

And I keep wanting more.

Well played, CAH.
Shut up and take my money.
Shut up and take my money. Last Thanksgiving my mother-in-law turned 50 shades of embarrassed while playing CAH. This year: my mother is introduced to the bigger...blacker...box.
A worthy addition to the series!
I own all the expansions, along with the original game of course, and the fourth expansion is just as fantastic as its predecessors. This game is always a hit with our friends. I find that the more I play, the more subtle cards amuse me and over-the-top offensive cards kind of lose their punch. It's fairly well-balanced, though there are always a few cards that never seem to be a hit with our usual play group. I just remove them from the rotation.

As for the deck itself, each card is very rectangular, and feels just like a card. The tuck box continues the long-standing tradition of enclosing the cards fully. The cards are all spelled correctly. The Helvetica font reads great and doesn't distract from the poop and dick jokes. The cards fit nicely into Ultra Pro deck sleeves. I got black and white ones to match the cards.

Other thoughts: It's always nice to have more "official" blank cards...in fact, I kind of wish they'd come out with a blank-card booster...

Cards Against Humanity: Third Expansion

Shut up and take my money!
As long as there are new expansion packs filled with cards with phrases I have to explain to my wife with filthy diagrams, I'm going to buy them. You should too.
Expansion Packs are Definitely Worth It
If you own (or are going to buy) the full Cards Against Humanity game, you should absolutely buy this. The cards added provide a little more longevity to the enjoyment you'll get out of the game by keeping it fresh. I have already bought the previous 2 expansions, and each time you put new cards in the deck, it adds so much replay value to the game.

I will order any future expansion packs that come out immediately, as I did when this one came out. This game is awesome and the expansion packs are a definite necessity.

So for those that haven't got a clue what this game is...it's Apples to Apples, but for adults. This is not a game for your children, unless you're a horrible parent.

Gameplay: Each player grabs 10 white cards. Each round, one player grabs a black card. The black card has either a question, or it has a statement with one or two fill-in-the-blanks. The other players in the game pick the white card or cards (if there's two fill-ins) and put...
most fun you will ever have save for being balls deep in a squeeling hog firing a shotgun in the air
I was introduced to this game at a party and immediately looked for a copy I have never laughed so hard in my life. It took 6 months before I could buy a copy for less than the ridiculous prices on eBay. It is now a permenant addition to our weekly game group and I keep it in my trunk to play anywhere anytime

Cards Against Humanity: Second Expansion

It's for the dolphins.
I held off on buying Cards Against Humanity, as I wasn't sure about their political stance on dolphin safety. Now that this second expansion solidifies their views, I am more than willing to purchase. Thanks Cards Against Humanity.
More fun than playing with a stick!
This game is not for the faint-hearted, and it will offend all your friends in the first 3 hands. After you get past the initial anger and shock, it's a heck of a good time and a very bonding experience. Pushing the limits is not an accurate description - it takes your limits, laughs at them, and continues on its merry way.
Awesome
When I opened this up, the first card said 'a bigger blacker dick'. That's all you need to know. Best game ever

Cards Against Humanity: First Expansion

Hide the kids, hide yo wife
Imagine if the family card game 'Apples to Apples' was re-created by Hunter S Thompson and Charles Manson on an ether bender. That's what you get with 'Cards Against Humanity'. Highly recommended to adults with filthy, filthy minds.
Excellent, with one caveat
Cards Against Humanity is easily one of the most entertaining adult party games in recent memory. Think Apples to Apples, but less "family-friendly." Gone are the boring comparisons that made Apples to Apples (and the sequel Sour Apples) fun but dull. Instead, Cards Against Humanity pulls out all the stops and is filled with very adult (and completely politically incorrect and often simply hilarious) cards.

If you're not familiar with Apples to Apples, here's how the game works:

Players take turns being the "Chairman" and draw one black card that has a statement on it (Example: "Before I kill you Mr. Bond, I must show you ______________."

The other players in the game then take turns playing one white card (they keep 10 in their hand at all times) that they think best completes the phrase. The chairman picks their favorite, and the player that played that card receives one point. Game play continues and the first player with five points wins...
We love it!
The first expansion to the terribly fun party game: Cards Against Humanity! Definitely recommend getting it! Fun tidbit: when combined with the original set, all the black cards can fit in the expansion box and all the white in the original box; makes keeping the cards separate easier!

If the price tage seems high or if the product's currently listed as unavailable, pay a visit to the product's site (cardsagainsthumanity.com) where you can sign up to receive an email when the next batch of product arrives; I did and I don't regret it! Awesome game!

Cards Against Humanity

Will ruin your life
This is not a review about playing Cards Against Humanity, it's a review of the fallout endured from playing Cards Against Humanity. Take it as a warning, if you will.

If you aren't a horrible person already, you will soon be. You will play Cards Against Humanity, and as others have said, you will be shocked, appalled, and worst of all, you will learn and adapt. You'll reach for your smartphone and search for terms you've drawn such as "The Übermensch", "Heteronormativity", and "The Three-Fifths Compromise". You will commit these and many other newly-learned words to memory.

And that's where it all comes crashing down.

At first, you might allow "front butt" to casually wander its way into a conversation here and there. As more of your subconscious fights to unleash the trauma, you'll find yourself uttering "nipple blades" and "mouth herpes" in the most unacceptable of times. You'll visit the Cards Against Humanity website and bomb them with...
Don't pay over original list price
I wanted this game, but it was sold out and 3rd party sellers were charging $70-$100 for what is usually a $25 dollar game. DON"T DO IT. You don't have to go without! Go to the manufacturers website. There is a version on PDF you can print at home or take to a printer and have your own temporary or trial version for $10. I did this yesterday, and my friends and I played last night. It was great fun! I still plan to buy a full version when they are available again at normal pricing, but I couldn't wait to try it out. You can also print a copy and give it as a gift with a little note saying the full version is coming. STILL it'll cost you less than folding and buying from a reseller. This is a Creative Commons game, and IMHO ripping people off is against the whole idea of Creative Commons.
I have played with over a hundred people, everyone has enjoyed it
This is not just an apples to apples deck filled with anne frank cards. The basic structure of the game is the same as Apples to Apples, but there's so much more to it. I've played wiith a bunch of distinct groups of people... a lot of whom start the game by ranting their hatred for apples to apples. But once we start everyone wants to play until they run out of cards. This includes the game I played with my family and my 80 year old grandmother (although explaining some of the cards to her was definitely awkward).

There's a real art in how the question and answer cards fit together. It honestly feels like you're all sitting around telling jokes. At a certain point the game comes alive and as you play various rounds the humor of the group you're in seeps into the game. It feels creative. So yes the mechanic is basically ripped from apples, but they've taken it and truly made something new out of it. You and your friends will love this game.
