Disney Princess & Me 18 inch Doll Set- Tiana

Beautiful Doll but Overpriced- $49.99 at ToysRus
I purchase this doll for my niece for christmas. I saw her at Toy R Us and thought that she was simple beautiul and had to buy it. I am putting it up for christmas. I was afraid if I did not buy her now she would not be available during christmas time. I purchased this doll at ToysRus for $49.99. I encourage everyone to shop around for this doll or any of the princess and me dolls as they are $49.99 at toysrus.

I plan to buy the rest of the accessories for the doll.
Beautiful doll for every age!
Before you read this, take in mind that I'm approaching this from an adult doll/toy-collector perpective. I'm 35 and have loved and worked for the Disney Company for many years. I have now purchased all 5 dolls, some of the outfits, the canopy bed and 3 wardrobes (which were FREE with purchase at Toys R Us). First of all, don't expect Robert Tonner quality. These are high-end play dolls. I am very picky about my hair and facial paint, so it took a while to find the "perfect" dolls. While the actual doll itself is of superior quality, the gowns they come in are just "okay" and even though the attention to detail is beautiful, they are inconsistently made. The hair is going to be diffrent on every doll, too, because they are all hand-rooted. Most little girls (and some little boys!), won't mind this...they're not picky about those little things.

Here are some tips when you decide to buy your Princess and Me doll:

A Princess Is Born
I am an adult collector of dolls. This disney doll was long overdue. I have watched the movies as a child and never could totally identify with the princessess because none of them looked like me. I bought Tiana at toys r us. I must admit I was overcome with tears when I got her out of the box. She is not flimsy made, but thick and durable. She is easy to hold onto and easy to hug. The dress is fabulous and I got the one with the hair down. I do not feel the plastic that sticks out of her hair because it is hard to cut the plastic all the way down to nothing. The plastic is meant to hold the doll in the box.
I did notice one small thing. My doll has more pigmentation and therefore the lipstick is far too light for her complexion. The lipstick needs to have more red in it to compliment a deep brown sugar complexion. I have the movie--The princess and the Frog and I 100% love it. I am sure this movie is why I was so moved to tears upon opening the box and getting Tiana...
