Small -- which may be a good thing -- fun and Inexpensive
Let me preface my review for a moment... About a year ago, my wife brought back this hulking kitchenette toy from the "free room" at the recycling center (also known as "the dump"). I was a little horrified at the looks of it; it is bigger than my desk at work, two-sided, nothing electronic working on it, but when we unloaded it outside, my two-year old son loved it. He began making coffee for his grandfather, pizza for my wife and I, and loved getting drinks from the fridge. As long as there were people around, it kept him totally busy and entertained.

So. Winter comes, and we have a small enough house as it is. We can't put something that size in his room, nor will it have a place in the living room without sacrificing some piece of furniture. Also, I've already looked at the "newer" versions of what still stands outside near the swing set, and they are ludicrously priced at approaching $200, if not more. Then I see this oven as well as a grill, and I can tell that...
Fun at First.....A Little too Small
My 3 1/2 year old niece was very excited to play with her new baking oven and at first it was a hit, but it didn't hold her attention long and it isn't a favorite toy now. The oven comes with cute accesories and makes fun sounds, so I wasn't sure what the problem was, but now I think it's just a little too small. My niece struggled to work on the pull out "cutting board" it's too small and narrow to really do much and I noticed the small bowl she was using kept falling off of it. The oven is well made and sturdy, but I think it could be a little bigger or least the "cutting board" should be wider. She does play with it and one of her little friends seems to enjoy it more than she does, so it just may be a prefence thing as my niece does have a larger play kitchen that she plays with all the time. I hesitated to give the oven only 3 stars, because it isn't junk like alot of toys, but still it's a little pricey for what it is and not quite being a 4 star toy and since I can't do 3 1/2...
Falls apart easily, and the recipe holder keeps falling over backwards
My daughter had so much fun playing with this at first, until she got REALLY annoyed that the recipe card holder kept falling the wrong way. I inspected it a few times and made sure I assembled it correctly, and I did. My daughter tends to be a little OCD about things so she felt better about the toy once I'd just removed the recipe card holder.

There is something strange about the setup. I like that the "side table" or "cutting board" can be put on either side, but it doesn't hold all of the utensils correctly, so a lot of them are just floating around the playroom now. I'm not OCD but I do think that if you make a toy with so many accessories, you should be able to store them all inside or on the toy somehow.

It's fun for her to play with, just seems a little disorganized in the design. The battery life is great, though, and except for the recipe card issue she plays with it often.

Little smaller than expected.
These pots are REALLY tiny. I wish they were an inch taller and wider. They seem quite durable. My daugher really likes them.
POTS AND PANS LOOK LIKE THE REAL THING
Sturdy, realistic pots and pans for little kids. Includes skillet, pans, lids and even a colander.( Pot holders too small for the pan handles or I would give the set 5 stars.)

Step2 Lifestyle Fresh Accents Kitchen

Perfect Play Kitchen!
This kitchen is perfect for my two year old son! He loves all the noises it makes! The frying pan sounds like frying, and the pot sounds like boiling water! He loves the microwave and the phone too! The storage space is small but everything that comes with it will fit away if you use the oven and fridge as storage. I was so pleased with how many accessories it came with! Pot and pan with lids. Two place settings (plate, bowl, cup, cutlery), Salt and pepper, coffee pot, Food (watermelon slice, pizza slice, hamburger, buns, lettuce, tomato slice, corn, and a few more i think!)

Assembly was very easy. I do recommend you use two people for certain parts! We had it assembled in less then 10 minutes. That includes the adding of the decals. Make sure you have 4 AA batteries and 2 AAA.

The size is perfect! I didn't want a huge kitchen but I did want it to have enough area to "cook".

Awesome for my little 2 year old Chef
My little 2 year old granddaughter doesn't have much space for larger toys, and I really wanted to get her a kitchen to play with, so I searched long and hard and found this smaller kitchen that is very durable and has most all of the things I was hoping for included. She has a blast making and serving coffee, cooking, microwaving and baking. She spends hours playing with it. It seems to be very durable and well made. Awesome for smaller spaces when you don't want to give up any of the fun appliances.
Lots of Cool Features in Very Compact Design
OK, so you've already heard below that it's a great little kitchen.
It's actually spectacular for the price point! Amazon's price is much less than other vendors and the manufacturer.

One of the kids on my Angel Tree Santa list wanted a play kitchen for her (7) and her baby sister (1.5).
I figured it would grow with the 1.5 year old, and her captive playmate could enjoy it from her probably too tall perspective. This 3 foot high kitchen seems great for the 2-4 year old crowd, and then it will start to be less proportionate.

Here are the questions I wanted answered, so I hope the answers will help others:

1. DOES THE BOX FIT THROUGH THE CAR DOOR OF A TRUSTY 1st GENERATION PRIUS?

Yes! It just made it into the back seat of my car. The box is about 24x22x21.
It seems bigger and bulkier than that though; visual tricks I guess.

2. DOES IT FIT BACK INTO THE BOX ONCE ASSEMBLED?

just what I was looking for
We stopped in at a major toy retailer and happened upon this - I had been checking out kitchens and this was on my wishlist, and with a $10 coupon in my pocket I decided to spring for it on the spot. It is set up in our kitchen for our 19 month old who doesn't let me do a thing by myself in the kitchen. I'm hoping that I can get her playing with the kitchen while I cook. It is the perfect size and fits in decor wise with our existing kitchen, so it makes it really cute that way. It has open and close features and a phone with sounds, all already a hit with her. She's really into open and close, so she is a bit disappointed that the spice bottles that come with the set don't open (not an issue for me). We've been showing her how to shake the spices into the pot and now she's shaking them all over the house! The only improvement I would make is I wish there was a shelf in the fridge compartment. You can really only put one thing in there without one. I like the rack in the oven...
Used daily, with slight modification
This kitchen (in Pink) was bought as a 1st birthday gift. It has been getting used every single day. It is usually one of the first things she goes for when she wakes up. The noises it make really entertain her, and we added a set of toy kitchen tools and accessories to add a bit more. By the end of the day it usually looks like a tornado swept through the room. Once our little girl was starting to pull herself to a standing position, we quickly found an easily solved problem with this kitchen. Toddlers are amazing, highly adaptive, and blindly suicidal. Ours quickly realized if she opened the oven door she could stand on it and reach even higher. So using just a little bit of leverage I was able to pop the oven door out and now we don't have that problem any more, and she doesn't even care any more.
Kids love this kitchen
Bought this for our oldest grand daughter who is currently 4 yrs old and turned around and bought another one for our youngest grand daughter who is currently 15 mths because she loved using her cousins so much. Even our 1 yr old grandson loves playing with it!

Great Product For Limited Space In Your Home...
Okay...I am a mother of six. I purchased this product at Toys R Us but ended up returning it. I got this for my 16 mth old who LOVED THE KITCHEN...it was very durable and cute as can be and great quality but I felt for the money it was kinda boring. She liked playing with the phone that came with it and opening the drawers...but I was looking for one that was a little more interactive. The only sound this kitchen makes besides beeping noises on the battery operated phone is the stove made a bubbling or sizzling noise when you put the pots and pans on it. I took it back to Toys R Us and they ended up having a 20% coupon for any one item in the store so I got her the Step 2 DELUXE kitchen. It is a bit larger but has so many more features...the microwave,stove,oven, dishwasher,and telephone make noise...and it has a little light above the stove that turns on and off and even has the option of using an adaptor for the light instead of batteries. I felt for the extra money this would bring...
mom of 2 boys!
My 4yr old got this from grandma for his birthday. He loves it!!! He has played non stop since I put it together. It was a little tricky putting it together and it did take some time. But it is WORTH it.. My 10 yr old also has had fun playing with it as well.
Excellent Kitchen and Excellent Value
I bought this kitchen for my four year old daughter last year. I looked at many kitchens before purchasing this one. I wanted a sturdy plastic kitchen that was full-size and that had a refrigerator, drawers, and stove. This one fit the bill and was $100 less than very similar ones.

My daughter very much enjoys playing with this. She's played with it regularly since we purchased it. She makes all sorts of meals and serves them to both my husband and me. It comes with some flatware, dishes and cups. I don't remember if it came with any food, but we've bought a few sets of food since. So, with the food we purchased, she makes pizza, cuts vegetables and fruits, serves sushi, cakes, etc. Sometimes she "makes" some very weird combinations, but has a grand time doing it!

One reviewer expressed displeasure with this purchase and expressed his fear of the kitchen tipping over on his child. I used to have a similar kitchen when my older daughter was much younger...

EXCELLENT play kitchen!
I was originally looking to buy a cheaper play kitchen as I wasn't too sure of how long my kids would play with it. After checking various websites and reading the reviews on almost 50 different play kitchens(Yes, I actually did go through and read all the reviews. I wanted to tear my eyeballs out after two days of searching and reading reviews, lol), I decided on this one. I'm glad I went with this one! The cheaper ones all seemed to be very small(based on the dimensions given in the info)and since I have two kids, I wanted something a little bit bigger that they can both play together.

This one had the stove in the middle and the oven to the right, which is nice because I noticed quite a few other ones had the stove right above the oven which is how a traditional oven-stove combo is but that doesn't really allow more than one child to 'cook' at one time with-out fighting. It also doesn't have any weird 'awning' like thing that I saw on some others and I'm glad on that too...
A Very Happy Little Boy
My son LOVES his new kitchen! My son is 3 and is always in the kitchen with me when I cook, so we decided to get him his own kitchen for his birthday. I couldn't believe there were 5 things on it that needed batteries; a real working clock, the phone, the under cabinet light (too cute!), the stove and the microwave. I was also surprised and delighted that the spatulas and colander were metal. I was pleased when we were putting it together (you *MUST* have a powered tool!)at how well designed and manufactured it was. Everything fit, it's sturdy and it's gorgeous. He's had hours of fun and I often see him mimicking me in the kitchen. I highly recommend this toy!
HOURS of fun!!!
I bought this for my daughter in 2010 for Christmas. At Christmas she was a little young (1) to really enjoy this product. She couldn't reach all of the features. Today I can say this was an AMAZING buy!! I have this set up next to my kitchen and while I am cooking my daughter goes to her kitchen and cooks. She loves talking on the phone that came with the set. She also loves the "boiling"sound the stove makes. I love the hours of fun this kitchen has provided. The quality of the product is great!! It has survived her 4 boy cousins playing with it as well. Yes, boys love playing with this set just as much as girls. This product is as good as it says and I was not disappointed at all. We have had this product for over a year and have played with it a ton...and it is still in GREAT condition. I have and will continue to tell people about this kitchen!!

Step2 50's Diner

My kids love it
I bought this for my two young daughters. In summary, it's a hit. A BIG hit. The arrangement with kitchen on one side and seating on the other lets this serve as a dual pretend play environment. There's a nice selection of food, utensils (cooking and eating), pans, coffee carafe, etc.

There are only two nits. First, it's just plain miserly to not throw in the requisite batteries. (You'll need 2 AAA, and 4 AA batteries. The Amazon description says 2 AA, but that's wrong. They forgot that the jukebox needs them too.) The second nit is that getting a couple of the pieces to fit together took some effort.

You'll find that a power drill/screwdriver is a necessity (a dozen or so 2-inch screws have to be driven into the plastic). I also found that a hairdryer helped the seat fit, when it was otherwise not wanting to slip into place. I just warmed the plastic until things flexed sufficiently. I also used a long woodworking clamp (e.g., an Irwin Quick Clamp, 36 inches...

Putting it together
Unless you're Shrek, you must use an electric screwdriver. After several hours of using our considerable strength to try and push the seat pegs in, we sprayed them with PAM and they did slide in easily. Love the toy. Thank goodness for PAM.

Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen

Versatile fun
Purchased this toy for my 3 year old granddaughter. It is super cute and has a lot of cool features (lights and sounds, came with a nice supply of food, pots and pans). She can play supermarket or kitchen or cafe and she loves using the cash register to ring you up. I forsee this bringing years of fun.

One critique, it is a PAIN to set up. It has about 20 steps and the holes for screws are not pre-drilled. Allot at least two hours for set up because forcing a three year old to wait for their present is not fun. Also, the stove top is a bit slick and the pots and pans tend to slide off.
Step 2 Fresh Market Kitchen
The Step 2 Fresh Market Kitchen is very durable. The doors open and close very well for my 4 year old. My daughter is tall for her age and it's not too small for her either. It does take over an hour to assembly, but I'd rather take awhile to assemble with a drill and the product not be a piece of junk (like other kitchens I've seen). My daughter loves the versatility of the kitchen v/s the store. There's also a shelf on the back for kids to pretend they are at a restaurant. The cash register that comes with it has a working scanner that beeps along with a key and credit card that she loves. There's a bag with several food items that come with the kitchen set too. The stove sizzles when you turn the knob. There's also a light that's LED. I cannot really say much bad about this kitchen set except that I wish the phone was a working phone and not a sticker. Small spaces
I read several reviews that knocked this product for lack of storage space. I am likely thinking about the same spaces that the other reviewers are, but my concern is not the lack of storage. I am terribly disappointed by the small interior space of the refrigerator, stove and microwave. They are SO SMALL, even for pretend play. We have a tiny play muffin tin, and it doesn't come close to fitting into the microwave or the oven. An average size adult coffee mug barely fits into the microwave. Although the aesthetics of this set are fantastic, it turns out that it's not overly functional, even for pretend play. I feel like we would have been further ahead to have purchased a different set, perhaps one of the wooden sets, with much larger fridge, freezer, microwave and oven space; considering selling this set and purchasing one of the others.

Step2 Grand Walk-in Kitchen and Grill, Brown/Tan/Maroon

Sturdy and creative toy with a few key drawbacks
Bought this for our 1-1/2 and 3-1/2 year-olds; they enjoyed it much more than we expected. Main drawback is the lack of any really useable shelf space for the toy food and dishes (or yours) that they provide, especially the plastic flatware and cookware, which really does not fit anywhere for storage. We bought a cheap toy shopping cart where all the fake stuff gets stored every night to help with clean up. The grill top is not very sturdy. While the cooking sounds from the range and grill are very appropriate and engaging, the microwave buttons are only stickers; some Step 2 models have built in buttons that make noises for the microwave. Set up is quite laborious and will likely take you upwards of 90 minutes, but all you need is a Phillips screwdriver and some patience. The toy was a bit dirty from the factory, but cleans up well.
This one is a winner!
I use customer reviews to weigh my on-line purchases. The comments people have provided for this product were very positive. Their feedback persuaded my purchase of this product among all other brands and models. They got this one right! No missing parts. Assembling the kitchen took a leisurely 90 minutes with two screwdrivers and a hammer (the hammer just helped get the screws going in the pre-designated spots but you don’t have to do this). I’m confident the assembling could have been accomplished in half the time, but I wanted to get this right. As I progressed, it became apparent the sturdiness is more than sufficient. Some customers mentioned storage and counter space as an issue. Unless they are comparing this ‘play’ kitchen to an actual one, don’t worry. It is quite large when completed so moving it around may not be so easy. However, I realized if you simply remove the four screws holding the corner posts, you are able to detach these posts...
Best Kitchen Ever!
Perfect kitchen for my two young girls.. and even my 8 year old boy loves it. We have all spent hours playing in it. Best thing I have ever bought for my kids. LOVE IT!

Step2 LifeStyle Grand Walk-In Kitchen

Just put this together last night!
My mother and I have looked at a couple of other Step2 kitchens for our home daycare but decided not to get them (they were to green!). After seeing this one on Step2's website, we were instantly hooked! We just put it together last night and it went together quite quickly. We used an electric screwdriver, which always makes it easier. I adore this kitchen but there are a few things I would have improved upon, considering the price. First of all, the doors to the refrigerator, microwave (which is on the small side), and the oven are made out of a thinner kind of plastic, unlike the rest of the kitchen. They also have a few scratches already. Also, there is not as much cupboard space as I would like and we'll still have to keep some of the food in a plastic tub. As with a lot of other models, the silverware drawer is not attached and it is very easy to pull out. We improved that by buying some sheets of thick self-adhesive felt used for lining the bottom of furniture so it doesn't...
This is a great kitchen, even if it's a tad expensive
We were on the fence about which kitchen to buy but had decided it would be a Step2 product. We wanted to try and find it locally, and Toys R Us only had a limited selection. They had this monster and the really small one. I had all but resigned myself to ordering one of the mid-sized ones online when we stumbled into this thing in the Seasonal section at Sam's Club yesterday for $199. With the price difference we jumped on it. After putting it together and looking at everything it would have definitely been worth it at full price. Our daughter (2) hasn't stopped playing with it yet, and we may have to figure out how to hide it at bed time because she wants out of bed to play more... Our 7 year old son even loves to play with her even though he's a bit too large to play *in* it.

Worth its weight in gold
I have a 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter. My brother bought this for my mom's house as a gift to the kids (the kids stay with my mom while I work). My son actually wanted the kitchen - he's taken an interest in cooking and his imaginative play has really taken off lately. Anyway, it came in 2 huge boxes, assembly took about 1 hour - need an electric drill, overall easy to put together (I did it alone) and it is just adorable. We were surprised the 1 year old was so into it. The kids have been playing with the kitchen everyday for at least the last 2 weeks. Even the 8 & 9 year old neighbors come over to play with the little ones. The electronic features are hysterical. My son might grow out of it in a year or two, but my daughter has years ahead of kitchen play.
