Step2 My Own Baking Oven

Small -- which may be a good thing -- fun and Inexpensive
Let me preface my review for a moment... About a year ago, my wife brought back this hulking kitchenette toy from the "free room" at the recycling center (also known as "the dump"). I was a little horrified at the looks of it; it is bigger than my desk at work, two-sided, nothing electronic working on it, but when we unloaded it outside, my two-year old son loved it. He began making coffee for his grandfather, pizza for my wife and I, and loved getting drinks from the fridge. As long as there were people around, it kept him totally busy and entertained.

So. Winter comes, and we have a small enough house as it is. We can't put something that size in his room, nor will it have a place in the living room without sacrificing some piece of furniture. Also, I've already looked at the "newer" versions of what still stands outside near the swing set, and they are ludicrously priced at approaching $200, if not more. Then I see this oven as well as a grill, and I can tell that...
Fun at First.....A Little too Small
My 3 1/2 year old niece was very excited to play with her new baking oven and at first it was a hit, but it didn't hold her attention long and it isn't a favorite toy now. The oven comes with cute accesories and makes fun sounds, so I wasn't sure what the problem was, but now I think it's just a little too small. My niece struggled to work on the pull out "cutting board" it's too small and narrow to really do much and I noticed the small bowl she was using kept falling off of it. The oven is well made and sturdy, but I think it could be a little bigger or least the "cutting board" should be wider. She does play with it and one of her little friends seems to enjoy it more than she does, so it just may be a prefence thing as my niece does have a larger play kitchen that she plays with all the time. I hesitated to give the oven only 3 stars, because it isn't junk like alot of toys, but still it's a little pricey for what it is and not quite being a 4 star toy and since I can't do 3 1/2...
Falls apart easily, and the recipe holder keeps falling over backwards
My daughter had so much fun playing with this at first, until she got REALLY annoyed that the recipe card holder kept falling the wrong way. I inspected it a few times and made sure I assembled it correctly, and I did. My daughter tends to be a little OCD about things so she felt better about the toy once I'd just removed the recipe card holder.

There is something strange about the setup. I like that the "side table" or "cutting board" can be put on either side, but it doesn't hold all of the utensils correctly, so a lot of them are just floating around the playroom now. I'm not OCD but I do think that if you make a toy with so many accessories, you should be able to store them all inside or on the toy somehow.

It's fun for her to play with, just seems a little disorganized in the design. The battery life is great, though, and except for the recipe card issue she plays with it often.

Pretend Play Toy Kitchen Set with Stove, Pots, Pans and Cooking Utensils

Poor Quality
After I received this item I knew I wouldn't be giving it as a gift. It is made of cheap plastic and was nowhere worth the price of $27.99...more like a $12 - $15 item. I think it was made in Italy...all words on the box were in Italian. Would not recommend due to cost vs quality.

Haba Wooden Play Cooker

Perfect for limited space; high quality
OUr 4 yr old son loves to cook and anytime we go anywhere with a pretend kitchen, we always feel guilty that we don't have one at home. Actually, prior to finding this, I was shopping for and intended to buy a larger play kitchen from Plan Toys but felt it was so tiny for the price and we are just running out of space for yet another item, even if it was on the smaller side. And our 4 yr old is really tall so we felt he would dwarf the Plan Toys kitchen set items (stove, fridge, etc.). I discovered this while looking for some wooden food items and it is perfect. We put it on a desk/table and it can also be used on the kitchen counter next to the real stove. Very durable, made in Germany and the perfect size if you want something that doesn't take up so much space. I would highly recommend this.
Sturdy, fun toy
We've had this cooktop for seven years with two kids and it has been great. It sets up anywhere, is sturdy, and adds a fun element to pretend play with food. The materials have stood up to a great deal of abuse and still look great. The cooktop has been set up in every room of my house, on tables, chairs, counters, even on the floor with a box or block to prop up the backside. The only detraction for both of my children is that the knobs simply twirl; if they had any ability to click into place the kids would find it more satisfactory.
My daughter loves to cook with me
I cook everyday for my family and my 3 year old daughter loves to help. We don't have a large house, so we have no room for one of the larger play kitchens. This one is perfect! She puts it on the counter, grabs her play pans, and cooks away right next to me. It is great play time for both of us and she is learning to cook at the same time. I see this toy lasting quite a while. It is also high quality, not plastic, and easily stored away in a cabinet when she is not playing with it. I love this toy and this company. Everything from Haba that I have bought has been wonderful.

Little Tikes Cupcake Kitchen

Like a Small Kitchen
The Little Tikes Cupcake Kitchen is absolutely adorable! It comes in pastel colors and the design is fun and functional. I think it would be really great too if you don't have room for a big play kitchen in your house since this is about half the size, but still has a sink, oven, and burners. I love that it even has a drawer for all the utensils and a shelf for plates and condiments! The stove burner will even click when you turn the knob. While the colors are girly, my son didn't mind playing with it at all and was excited to make little cupcakes. It comes with just enough accessories and everything can be stored in the drawer and oven when you want to put it away.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
It is a great kitchen. It does not take up too much room and it super cute. My kids love baking cupcakes for us all! It had held up so far and I don't anticipate any problems. The other thing is the drawer comes out very easy. It upset my daughter so much that we just removed it. Problem solved! We don't miss it.
Love it!
I bought this for my 1 year old daughter and she loves it! She plays with it every day. It's the perfect size (doesn't take up too much space) and not as expensive as other kitchens. Would recommend for ages 1-4

Create Your Own Light and Sound Kitchen

Great Play Kitchen!!!!
I purchased this for my three year old girl and she loves it! It was easy to put together and the top of the stove lights up and makes bubbling and frying sounds. The stove door and refrigerator door take a little bit of pressure to close, but overall really super cute and does not take up too much space. My one year old boy can't stay away from it either! The accessories that it comes with are really cute-4 purple mugs, 4 yellow plates, 4 pink plates, 4 each of purple forks, spoons and knives, a hanging spatula, knife and soup ladle, a frying pan with clear lid, a white square cooking dish with clear lid, 4 cardboard juice boxes. The fridge & stove do not have a shelf in it but ample space to store play food. Totally recommend this item-can't beat the price. The only thing, just make sure you take the time to snap in the pieces when you assemble-the directions are on the box. Love it!
save your money and buy a kitchen that is more durable
I bought this kitchen after reading reviews and I don't know when I have been so disappointed by an online purchase (and the people who wrote positive reviews). The size is almost too small for my 19 month old (don't go by the picture), and is incredibly flimsy. The plastic is so thin it bends easily. The backs of the "refrigerator" and "oven" are pieces of cereal-box thin cardboard. The doors are basically impossible for a toddler to close properly on his/her own, leading to quite a bit of frustration. That said, a play kitchen is always a source of a lot of fun for children. I will definitely be buying a different kitchen...I am just hoping this one holds up until Christmas when I get one that will last and that my toddler can play with without frustration.

And...I almost forgot...the cardboard for the refrigerator has drawings of cereal boxes, potato chip cans, cracker boxes/bags and cans of soup on it! Perhaps it should've been for a pantry shelf instead of a...
great kitchen for the price
I bought this as a gift for my three year old's birthday, she loves it! however the "juice boxes" that are included are not very durable, I also have my doubts as to how long the kitchen itself will actually last, but for the time being it is great

Deluxe Kitchen Appliance Cooking Play Set 28" w/ Lights & Sound

Total Piece of Junk
We were very excited to give this to our daughter for her birthday. We were not expecting it to be a complete piece of junk! The plastic is beyond cheap, and NONE of the pieces hold together. The slightest amount of weight sends the whole thing hurdling to the ground (and your child along with it). The stickers were mangled when we opened the box, and once you place them, you cannot remove them without the sticker coming apart. The legs will not stay attached, and you can tell just by looking at the plastic that it is very unsteady. Letting my daughter try to play with it, only proved it. It says it is for a 3 year old child, but my 1 year old is the right height, and she is not even tall for her age. Don't waste your money on this product. Spend the extra $30-$50 and get a quality kitchen... or go consignment. Not worth the money for this, even if you are on a budget.
Very disappointed
This is flimsy. I understand you get what you pay for but this is very cheaply made. I would not recommend this.
Tiny
Too small, not sturdy sorry I purchased it but I paid for I spent. But my son plays with it in pieces.

Playskool Sesame Street Come 'N Play Cookie Monster Kitchen Café Playset

Hours of fun
My two year old daughter has hours of fun with this toy. She is learning the various pieces of "food" and even includes "food" from other toy sets as part of the activity. There are numerous aspects of this toy to keep youngsters amused including, knobs to turn, buttons to press, and three different characters with speaking parts. The toy seems a little clumsy to a certain degree. If a child leans on it the wrong way, it could easily fall forward or backward. I would recommend leaning it against the wall. If you have an adventurous child, he/she may try to climb on it. This could be bad for a number of reasons. The set could tip easily and of course, hollow plastic is never the strongest material to holding children. It would seem tough to break this toy on purpose so I would suggest it to be durable. I would have some concern about foreign foods being jammed in Elmo or Abby's mouth, but his problem is easily remedied. Overall, I would purchase this toy again if I needed a second one.
Fun but Falls apart
My almost 3 year old twins and their 4 year old brother LOVE this toy! I just wish it stayed together for longer than 15 minutes. I'm sure there are other kiddie kitchens that are just as fun that actually stay put together. Buy another product.
Don't Have to Be a Sesame Street Fan to Enjoy!
While this kitchen says it is up to 4 years old, I think it is definitely for younger kids maybe 2-3 years old at the most. My daughter (14 months) thinks this toy is the silliest and fun-filled toy ever. She loves to push and pull things which activates the noises and music.

Installation is pretty simple and it took maybe 15 minutes to get it out of the box and set-up (and that was with my little one's help of course.) It is a bright and kid-friendly toy in its colors and design, but I think the company forgot that little kids like to pull themselves up on things as this can be tipped easily. This kitchen is also really only for one child at a time. I would say unless your child is a huge Sesame Street fan I would probably pass on this kitchen and buy a bigger one. The bigger kitchens are built to grow up with your child and have so many options available. I'd say for $30-$40 this is worth it and perfect for young kids. It does come with some food and accessories...
